Novant Trionix transparent iron oxide pigments

In the wood coatings industry, transparent iron oxide pigments are fast becoming the de facto choice for use in high-quality wood finishing applications, offering protection from wood degradation caused by UV light or fungi. Without which, the ultraviolet radiation from sunlight, at 280-400nm will lead to the decomposition of the lignin in wood and destroy the wood cell structure. The use of Trionix transparent iron oxides will act as a UV absorber and also enhance the appearance of natural wood grain and texture, leading to greater aesthetic values.

Trionix pigments ensure excellent transparency and durability, and when combined with aluminum or mica pigments, produce versatile color palettes of metallic and pearlescent coatings suitable for both automobile interior and exterior use.

The versatile application of Trionix pigments, in conjunction with metallic colors, can produce many diverse creations, from brilliant transparent colored metallic effects in flexographic packaging foil inks, to natural wood grain finishes in photogravure inks for laminate papers.

The inclusion of Trionix in coatings affords both UV protection and aesthetically pleasing metallic effects in both aqueous and solvent based resin systems.

Trionix pigments, displaying superior transparency, weather fastness and durability, are well suited in the formation of powder coatings, for the automotive, wood and industrial coatings industries. Trionix pigments are effective in most thermosetting powder coatings where the cure temperature is in keeping with the pigment's capabilities.

Other applications include artist colors, where synthetic iron oxides can provide greater color consistency and transparency versus natural grades; and plastics where the requirement to replace glass for beverage and medicine bottles has brought about PET & PP containers, as well as masterbatch production.
